To mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka organized a general culture quiz with a special focus on Asian culture for secondary school students and university students on 25 September 2026.
The quiz, held at the “Katedra” café at the Faculty of Political Science, brought together several teams of secondary school and university students. The winning team received a voucher for lunch or dinner at the “Sečuan” Restaurant in Banja Luka.
Following the quiz and the award ceremony, the participants attended a tea ceremony and tasted mooncakes, which are traditionally served during this festival in the People’s Republic of China.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals. It is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, when the Moon is at its brightest and closest to Earth. The festival celebrates family togetherness, gratitude and prosperity. Mooncakes, traditional round-shaped delicacies that resemble the full Moon, symbolize family unity.
