The Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka is organising a free Chinese language course for beginners in January and February 2026. The introductory course for all those interested in learning Chinese will be held from 12 January to 6 February 2026, three times a week, in the afternoon. The course is scheduled to be held in the Confucius Institute classroom at the Faculty of Political Science, University Campus. It will be held by Ren Zixuan, professor from China.

In honour of the Chinese New Year, the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka is organising a literary contest for secondary school students on the topic оf the Red Fire Horse – a symbol of courage, energy and freedom.

The Chinese New Year and the Year of the Red Fire Horse begins on 17 February 2026. This is a time for new beginnings, opportunities for growth and expanding our horizons, when we do not let the wind carry us, but determine our own direction.

We invite secondary school students to find inspiration in this topic, in themselves and the Chinese culture, write their own story and send their work by 1 February 2026 to konfucijev.institut@unibl.org.
