On 27 August 2020, the Chinese language professor at the University of Banja Luka Confucius
Institute, Wu Kun, held his last TaiChi class at the Confucius Institute in Banja Luka. He spent 2
years at the Institute.
In addition to the Chinese language and culture courses for students and other interested citizens at the Confucius Institute, our colleague Wu also held free Chinese language courses for school children at the „Vuk Stefanović Karadžić“ Primary School in Banja Luka and preschool children at the Montessori Kindergarten and the Day Centre for Children „Nest“. He held courses in traditional Chinese painting and Chinese calligraphy for secondary school children at the School of Technology in Banja Luka.
Professor Wu also organised a great number of educational workshops on Chinese calligraphy, painting, paper cutting art, weiqi etc., with the aim to enable citizens to take part in different aspects of Chinese culture and thus learn more about it and understand it better. In cooperation with the Brčko youth organisation „Mali princ“ and the Poliglota Institute, he regularly hosted such workshops in Brčko.
Furthermore, professor Wu held TaiChi courses at the Confucius Institute as well as for
physiotherapists of the Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitaton „Dr Miroslav Zotović“,
so that they could continue practicing this ancient Chinese skill with their patients.
Wu Kun underwent specialised training in teaching skills at Tianjin University of Foreign
Languages and Shanghai Normal University. He was previously engaged in Chinese language
teaching in Georgia between 2016 and 2018 and has extensive experience in teaching language, TaiChiquan and calligraphy.
We thank our colleague Wu Kun for his dedication in the work for the Confucius Institute in
Banja Luka and we wish him all the best in his future career.
