The Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka organized a series of interesting events
for the general public this year, during September, in honour of marking the Interanational
Confucius Institute Day. All the events were free of charge.
The table tennis tournament in the team competition of amateur players, organized in
cooperation with the Table Tennis Club Banja Luka, was held on 18 September 2022, in the
Sports Hall Centar in Banja Luka. 15 teams, consisting of 2 players each, took part in the
competition, and the three best teams were awarded valuable prizes, provided by the Chinese
company China State Construction Engineering.
In cooperation with the Catering Secondary School from Banja Luka, the Confucius Institute
also organized a Chinese cuisine workshop at this school, held on 24 September 2022.
Together with the master chef from the Chinese company Shandong, the citizens had the opportunity to learn how to prepate the specialties of Sichuan cuisine.
As part of marking the International Confucius Institute Day, the Confucius Institute organzed
the Chinese Culture Quiz and a contest in the use of chopsticks on 16 September 2022 for the
students of Banja Luka Grammar School and other secondary schools in Banja Luka, which were held as part of the Confucius Classroom in that school, where the Confucius Institute has been organizing free Chinese language courses for more than four years. The same quiz was also organized for the students of the Doboj Secondary School Center on 27 September 2022, in the premises of the Doboj School of Economics, where the Confucius Institute has been organizing free Chinese language courses for three years. The winning teams received valuable prizes.
This year, citizens could watch Chinese films in the Youth Center in Banja Luka on 21 and 22
September, as well as a musical performance and presentation of Chinese pop music, in
cooperation with the Opus Conmusica music school, on 23 September 2022.
Over 500 Confucius Institutes in more than 140 countries traditionally celebrate this day during September and organize public events where Chinese language, culture and tradition are shared with the citizens of the local community.
