The team of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka got a new Chinese
director, who arrived from China in September of this year.
Prof. Dr. Luo Xiaoru is an associate professor at Tianjin University of Technology and
Education, partner university of the University of Banja Luka. He received his doctorate at the
East China Normal Faculty in 2012. He has extensive international experience in teaching the
Chinese language to students of Confucius Institutes, and he will be teaching the
Contemporary Chinese Language at the Sinology Study Programme at the Faculty of
Philology of the University of Banja Luka.
Earlier in September, Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD,
organized a farewell reception for the former Chinese director of the Confucius Institute, Shen
Li.
Rector Gajanin thanked Li for her outstanding contribution to the development of the
Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka, the establishment of contacts and
cooperation with Chinese companies on the domestic market, and the successful launch of the Sinology Study Programme at the Faculty of Philology. He expressed hope that the mutual
cooperation will continue when she returns to China.
After two years spent at the Confucius Institute in Banja Luka, Shen Li is returning to China,
where she will continue to work at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Tianjin University of
Technology and Education, the partner university of the University of Banja Luka.
The reception was also attended by Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University
Cooperation Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Member of the Confucius Institute Steering Board
Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD, and Confucius Institute Home Director Assc. Prof. Ljiljana Stević,
