Chinese New Year Marked

Concert in honour of marking the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Tiger was held on 31

January 2022 in the Concert Hall of „Banski dvor“ Cultural Centre in Banja Luka.


The concert, organized in cooperation with the Academy of Arts and the Banski Dvor Cultural

Centre, is a gift from the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka for the Chinese

New Year, with which it celebrated the friendship and strong connections between the peoples of the two countries. The audience had the opportunity to listen to the compositions of renowned Chinese composers, but also composers from the region.


It was performed by the String Chamber Orchestra Ban Svetislav Tisa Milosavljevic KC

Banski Dvor the String Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja

Luka and the Chamber Choir Kerubini. The concert was conducted by Branka Radošević

Mitrović and Dušan V. Urošević, with the actress Slađana Zrnić participating in the concert

programme.


Chinese New Year, also called Spring Festival, is the most important holiday in China,

celebrating the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It is based on the lunar calendar. It

starts on the new moon, which appears between January 21 and February 20. This year, the

Chinese New Year begins on the 1st and lasts until the 15th of February.
