Selena Pjević, professor at the Philological Gymnasium Belgrade, held Chinese language
promotion classes on 17 and 18 March 2022 for Banja Luka Grammar School students and
secondary school students in Doboj.
These events, organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka with Banja
Luka Grammar School and Doboj School of Economics, was attended by a great number of
students, who in just one school hour learned to introduce themselves, greet and count to ten.
Professor Pjević pointed out that the main goal of the promotion classes is to break down
prejudices about the Chinese language as difficult, as well as the promotion of this Far Eastern
language, which has been taught as an elective subject in these schools for several years now.
All interested students can apply for the Chinese language course, which is free of charge, and
after successfully completing the three-month course, they can take the HSK 1 exam. It is a
Chinese proficiency exam, which students may take at the Confucius Institute at the University
of Banja Luka, which is also the Test Center of this internationally recognized examination. This year’s exam will be held on 16 July, and the application deadline is one month before.
