In line with the tradition, the Institute of International Politics and Economics organized the online celebration of the Chinese New Year, known as Spring Festival, under the title of “Awaiting the Year of the Tiger”.
“Strength, courage and determination. Self-confidence and faith in values. This is how the Chinese people see the tiger, king of animals. This is also how we view Serbian-Chinese cooperation – as courageous and strong”, Director of the Institute Prof. Branislav Đorđević, PhD, said in his opening remarks, wishing Chinese friends a happy New year.
Head of the Centre for the “Belt and Road” Studies Katarina Zakić, PhD, underlined in her
presentation the customs and symbols associated with the marking of the Chinese New Year.
University of Banja Luka Confucius Institute Director Ljiljana Stević, PhD, presented a range of
activities undertaken by the Institute in honour of marking the Spring Festival.
They also played the video of Chinese traditional music performed by Banja Luka Grammar School pupils, students of the Chinese language course.
The celebration was closed by the deputy director of the Institute of International Politics and
Economics, Ivona Lađevac, PhD, who expressed her hope that the next celebration of the Chinese New Year, in 2023, be held live, together with friends and colleagues from the Republic of Srpska and the People’s Republic of China.
