Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka was approved by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) in November, 2017 to be established by Tianjin University of Technology and Education and University of Banja Luka, which was listed as one of the achievements in the 6th China - Central and Eastern European countries' leaders' meeting. The former Vice Premier Liu Yandong presented the plate of the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka to the Rector Radoslav Gajanin at the 12th Global Conference of Confucius Institutes. Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka was inaugurated on Jan 21st, 2018. Mr. Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republic of Srpska, Ms. Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Prime Minister  of the Republic of Srpska, Mr. Zhao Haishan, Vice Mayor of Tianjin, Ms. Chen Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, attended the ceremony and witnessed the unveiling of the plate of the Confucius Institute. Among other attendants were Ministers of the Republic of Srpska, Mayor of Banja Luka, and more than 300 local representatives.

Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka is making efforts to provide programs of Chinese language teaching and cultural activities to kindergarten kids, grammar school students, university students and others who are interested in learning Chinese language and Chinese traditional culture, etc.
